GOT The Beat is a unit of SM Entertainment’s project girl group Girls On Top. All of the members of this unit are idols that have debuted previously as a part of an SM group or as a soloist. This group has the biggest age-gap in an SM group, with the oldest member (BoA) being born in 1986 and the youngest member (Winter) being born in 2001, coming to about a 15-year difference.

Pre-Debut:
BoA debuted as a soloist in August 2000.
Taeyeon and Hyoyeon are both members of SM’s girl group SNSD/Girls Generation that debuted in August 2007, as well as both being soloists.
Seulgi and Wendy are both members of SM’s girl group Red Velvet that debuted in August 2014, as well as both being soloists.
Karina and Winter are both members of SM’s girl group Aespa that debuted in November 2020.

In December of 2021, SM Entertainment released teaser images and opened new social media accounts for a group called Girls On Top. They then announced that this group would be a project group that contained multiple units and that the project would eventually feature all of the active female artists under the SM label. The first unit would be called GOT the Beat (GOT standing for Girls On Top) and would debut in the upcoming month.

On January 1st, 2022, the group performed a special stage at the annual SMTOWN Live concert. The performance was of their debut single “Step Back” which would be released digitally 2 days later alongside a live stage music video. In December 2022, the group was announced to be having their first comeback with a mini album the following month.

On January 16th, 2023, GOT the Beat released their 1st mini album “Stamp On It” alongside the music video.
